Maintaining participant confidentiality is an integral element of the Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP). CPHP operates under very strict guidelines pertaining to confidentiality.
As the designated Peer Assistance Health Provider in Colorado for physicians, physician assistants and anesthesiology assistants, CPHP complies with all state and federal laws, as well as Colorado Medical Board (CMB) policies. CPHP’s reporting requirements are consistent with licensees’ reporting expectations outlined in the Colorado Medical Practice Act (C.R.S § 12-240-101 et seq.). Specific questions about confidentiality should be directed to the Director of Clinical Services or the Executive Director.
Relationship with Colorado Medical Board
The Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) is a nonprofit organization, independent of other medical organizations including the Colorado Medical Board (CMB) and the government. CPHP is governed by the Colorado Peer Assistance Act and is contracted through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies to provide the peer assistance services to Colorado licensed physicians, physician assistants and anesthesiology assistants.
CPHP receives referrals from a wide variety of referral sources and the CMB is one of those sources. The CMB primarily refers cases to CPHP for evaluation. This comprises approximately 20% of newly referred clients annually.
