The Colorado physician community as represented by local and state medical societies believes the medical profession is responsible for assisting colleagues with health problems that could affect safe and effective medical practice. The Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) was founded in March 1986, as a non-profit [501(c)(3)] corporation. CPHP is governed by the Colorado Peer Assistance Act and is independent of other medical organizations and the state government. The Denver Medical Society, the Colorado Medical Society and Copic Insurance Company were instrumental in establishing CPHP and continue their support of the program. A Board of Directors that is comprised of physicians governs CPHP. Also view our Quick Fact Sheet about our program.
